A little bit of sewing and crafts, a little bit of parenting, and a lot of life in general

Crafting is good for your brain
Seriously. I don't know if there are studies out there to back it up, but I can tell you from experience, its a hard core mental workout. I've been pondering the logisitics of making a felt dollhouse for my 2 year old for Christmas for weeks. Tonight, I sat down to work on it. I think I have it all figured out, but man my brain hurts. I'm stopping and going to bed before I make a mistake that will have me seam ripping and swearing (something I'm trying to reign in, as my 2 year old is apt to repeat our choice words any day now).

Its official - the word is out!
Recently, I moved from quilting and craft sewing to garment sewing.
My first project: a circle skirt for Olivia
My second project: Olivia's fairy costume
And now the word is out. My sister called me last week asking me to make a concert skirt for my 10 year old niece. A few phone conversations, mailed fabric, and a couple hours later: 1 black concert skirt, made to order:
My first project: a circle skirt for Olivia
My second project: Olivia's fairy costume
In this project, I completed my first zipper (hidden), first braided hem, first waistband (non elastic), and I got to play with the button measuring and auto button feature on my Bernina. I am loving garment sewing, learning lots with each project, and getting more and more confident. I'm so glad I took the plunge a few months ago. I still have yet to complete a project with an actual pattern.....
